My vision for my signature collection is shaped by several criteria that must be met for a design to progress.
Each design must be beautiful.
Though beauty is in the eye of the beholder there are combinations of form, shape and color that objectively are pleasing to behold and timeless. Our culture, experiences and genetics guide each of us to beauty. Much of this is shared. Plenty is individuality.
Each piece must be durable and be of lasting value for its owner. HUGO KOHL jewelry has been designed and manufactured to be worn, not just looked at. We expect that our pieces, when enjoyed under ordinary circumstances, will be comfortable, become heirlooms and provide lasting enjoyment and value for years to come.
Each piece must carry with it the mission to tell a story of love and meaning between the giver and recipient.
All of the designs in the HUGO KOHL collection tell varied stories of love and devotion and speak to the human experience. There are many lively discussions about what makes humans, well...human. Other creatures use language and build things. They have conflicts, feel emotions and use tools. What is uniquely human is to craft and wear symbols that say who we are, what we believe in and what we aspire to. Embedded in each of these pieces in the collection are some of my favorite messages I’ve wanted to share with those I love.
