Sustainable Materials

A “...expertly handmade by skilled craftsman.”

It means that each of the folks who put their hands to the task of making these pieces are true experts. They are informed, trained, have practiced their skills for years and are interested in the work they do. They have committed themselves to excellence and choose this form of work with great intention. Through this commitment and time spent studying their craft, they are informed experts with learned opinions as to what is the best way to make.

B “...using carefully selected, ethically sourced, conflict-free materials.”

It means we make a virtuous choice based on our years of knowledge, experience and the intentions of producing the most beautiful jewelry to the highest quality in a sustainable way. Our noble metals—gold, silver, platinum and palladium—come from a closed-loop refinery that processes recycled scrap only. Our gemstones are chosen for their qualities of beautiful brilliance and lasting value and are sourced from reputable suppliers certified to be conflict-free. While no products are completely free of environmental impact, our recycled metals don’t involve large Earth-moving operations. Neither do the cultured sapphires, rubies, emeralds and opals. The mined diamonds, garnet, amethyst, tourmaline come from conflict-free mines and are certified through the Kimberley process.

Hugo Kohl Sustainable Materials

At the end of the day, we live on the planet Earth. Its resources are finite. Our climate, water, air and food are influenced by our presence and it’s worth being considerate of ourselves, our children and the other creatures with whom we share this space. It’s something each us us can find a way to do.
